5 Ways I Help You Plan Your Elopement

Let’s face it, when planning elopement, most couples have no idea where to even start. Why? Because most people have never attended an elopement! Gone are the days where elopement simply means sneaking off and getting hitched in Las Vegas with an Elvis impersonator as your officiant. More couples than ever are saying “peace out” to the stress and cost of a traditional wedding and instead electing to do things their way with an intimate and adventurous elopement!

But planning an elopement is difficult if you don’t know what it could be, which is where I come in! As your elopement photographer, I’m there for much more than just the day-of photos—I’m essentially your entire wedding planner. From the day you inquire to the day of your elopement, I’m with you every step of the way. Here are five important ways I make your elopement the day of your dreams.

PROVIDING PERSONALIZED LIST OF SECLUDED AND STUNNING LOCATIONS

After getting to know you, I’m able to put together a completely customized list of location options based on your unique preferences, how you envision your day, activities you want to include and much more. I’ve lived in Colorado for a decade and have spent much of my free time exploring off-the-beaten-path locations like high alpine lakes, towering waterfalls, mountain passes and valleys, and more. Each of my clients receives a list of locations, pros and cons, driving distance, restrictions and regulations, photos, and more. From there, I walk you through the locations and can help you choose one.

CREATING A CUSTOMIZED SCHEDULE AND TIMELINE

Once we nail down a location, I will create a unique timeline for your elopement day. This includes time for exchanging vows, epic adventure photos, activities, picnics, detail photos, and much more. Down to the tiniest detail, I will make sure your elopement day runs as seamlessly as possible so you can just show up and enjoy every last second!

SECURING PERMITS AND REGULATIONS

More popular elopement locations in Colorado may require special permits and regulations. Once you select a location, I will research those unique regulations and obtain any commercial photography or event permits well in advance of your elopement day.

SHARING WILDERNESS SAFETY KNOWLEDGE

Because I spend a lot of time with clients in the wilderness, I need to have a level of wilderness knowledge and skill to ensure everyone is safe during our sessions. Things like wildlife encounters, bad weather, accidents, and more can happen quickly and unexpectedly. I over prepare for these situations by ensuring I have the proper knowledge and equipment to keep my clients safe. I always travel into the backcountry with a Garmin Satellite device in case there is an emergency and I have a first-aid kit on hand at all times.

Additionally, I ensure myself and my clients abide by Leave No Trace principles to keep these wild places unspoiled and protected from human damage. This knowledge also helps me to provide comprehensive packing lists and seasonal recommendations.

PACKING LISTS AND VENDOR RECOMMENDATIONS

I provide each couple a customized packing list based on weather, location, season, etc. This helps you feel prepared and ready for your adventure elopement! I also help you decide which details you want to include like flowers, vow books, announcement cards, ring boxes, catering, etc. and link you with local vendors who can help facilitate.

After all of that, I show up and take amazing photos that capture your unique love on your special day and deliver them in a high-resolution gallery. So take the stress and guesswork out of your elopement planning, and let me make your day as fun and easy as possible!
